League One side Plymouth are in talks with an an investment group regarding a potential takeover, according to . Bale has been lined up to front the US-based group in a bid to add some glamour to the bid. Many famous faces have invested in English football clubs in recent years such as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney at Wrexham, Tom Brady with Birmingham and Bale's former Real Madrid team-mate Luka Modric at Swansea.

Plymouth Argyle chairman Simon Hallett has been searching for investment and revealed only last month that a bid had fallen through. The Pilgrims were relegated from the Championship last season and have just confirmed former Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley as the team's new manager.
