Strasbourg are reported to be considering a move for Petrovic that would see the Chelsea stopper move to Ligue 1 for the duration of the 2024-25 season. suggests the French side have also weighed up Anthony Lopes from Lyon, with the idea of bringing in a senior goalkeeper until eventually making 19-year-old Robin Risser their number one.

Having signed from the New England Revolution, Petrovic made 31 appearances for Chelsea last season after Robert Sanchez got injured. But with the arrival of Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal and the expectation that Sanchez will fill the number two role, Petrovic is facing a season without game time if he stays put. A move to Strasbourg could make sense as it would round out their loan quota and the club also happen to be owned by Todd Boehly's BlueCo.

Petrovic cost Chelsea an initial £12.5 million ($16m) and signed a long-term contract until 2030. He had been New England's replacement for Matt Turner when the American joined Arsenal.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is expected to name Jorgensen in his first lineup of the season when the Blues face Manchester City on August 18. Whichever goalkeeper gets the nod on the bench, will be indicative of whether Petrovic needs to look elsewhere.
